Biographical details
Abigail Dance is a London based freelance violinist.
She studied music at Goldsmiths College London, going on the gain a Postgraduate in violin performance from RWCMD Cardiff where she won a number of scholarships. Recent engagements have included guest principal roles as well as freelance work with many symphony orchestras, opera and theatre companies throughout the U.K.
Abigail has given solo recitals in England and Wales as well as in France and the Czech Republic. She has recently performed solo roles with the Performance Ensemble of East London (Bach’s concerto for 2 violins) and the LCMM string ensemble (Vaughan-Williams’ Variations on a theme of Thomas Tallis).
Abigail has premiered many new compositions as soloist, with the Amber Players and also with the Apollo piano trio.
Teaching availability
Abigail combines her passion for chamber music with a busy teaching schedule. Currently she teaches for ELLSO (East London Late Starters Orchestra), Our Lady’s Convent School, Newham Academy of Music and is co-director of the Intermediate Performance Ensemble of East London.
Abigail is also available to give lessons in violin/viola and chamber music in London. She has many years experience teaching individual and class violin/viola, coaching orchestras and chamber groups and giving masterclasses in various aspects of string performance.
She has also been involved in chamber music performance outreach projects. This includes work in special needs education. Current students range in level from complete beginners to advanced players, and in age from 5 to 85 years.
Abigail also holds an up to date enhanced police check to assure parents/guardians of her suitability to work with children.
